Rules of the Poker Room

Rules of Thumb

1) When you first sit down, you have to take your chips out of the tray, you can't play with chips in the tray.

2) Some games require you to post a Big Blind even if you are not in the Big Blind if you want to play immediately. If you do not want to post a Big Blind right away, then you will have to wait for the Big Blind to come to you.

3) In general, most games post a Big Blind and Small Blind; some games only require a Big Blind.

4) When you are dealt your two cards, you must keep them on the table. You cannot pull them off the table.

5) If you have not folded, it is best to physically protect your two cards from accidentally being folded by putting a chip on top of them. In this way, the Dealer can not take your cards away or assume you've folded your hand. Also, if someone folds their hand and throws/tosses it and any of their two cards touches your two cards, your cards would be folded as well if they were not protected by a chip on top of them.

6) In a 10 handed game, if you are the third person to step away from the table and be dealt out, the Pit Boss can choose to take your chips off the table to give your seat to the next waiting player.

7) A maximum of two players can step away and be dealt out from a 10 handed game at any time.

8) If you miss the Blinds twice while you stepped away from the table for a short break (ie. washroom, a walk, etc.) and did not received permission for a long break (ie. dinner break), the Pit Boss can choose to take your chips off the table to give your seat to the next waiting player.

9) If you miss one Blind because you stepped away from the table for a short break, you will have to post a Blind, even if you are not in the Blind position, to get back in the game, or you can sit and wait until the Big Blind comes around to you.

10) You can request, through the Pitt Boss, for a dinner break and they will give you 45 minutes away from the table. With permission for this long break, you can miss as many Blinds that come around within that 45 minutes and your chips will not be removed from the table.

11) You can request the Dealer to change decks if you feel you are not being dealt enough playable hands.

12) While a hand is in progress, you can not talk about the hand in any way (ie. announce what cards you folded or tell players in the hand what you think each has, etc.) out of respect for the Players still in the hand.

13) If you speak another language, you can only speak that language while no hand is being dealt or played, otherwise you must communicate in english.

14) Until you officially stop playing at a table and leave it, you are not allowed to cash out a portion of your chips (ie. you sit at the table with $100 in chips, win $50 more and want to cash in your original $100 and play with the $50) and then continue playing with the leftover chips at the table. With everyone having to keep any and all of their original amount on the table, it enables everyone the opportunity to win your money.

15) If a Dealer or player accidentally flips a card over while the cards are being dealt out, the Dealer is obligated to show all players at the table the card before discarding it so that everyone knows which card has been used and will not be in play.

16) If a Player shows his winning hand to any one Player after no one called him and everyone folded to him, any other Player may request to also see the cards. The Dealer would then show the winning Player's hand to the rest of the table.

Betting Action Rules

1) When the action comes to you, you can "Call", or match, the Big Blind, Raise, or Fold your hand.

2) When the betting has come to you and you are the Big Blind, the Dealer may ask you "Option?" which means you have the "option" to Raise a minimum of double your original Big Blind amount or Check by saying "Check" or signalling "Check" by tapping the table.

3) In Limit games, there is a maximum of three raises allowed during each betting session (ie. before the Flop, Turn, and River)

4) In No Limit games, you can bet all your money at any time.

5) Raised bets will be disallowed if you call a bet by placing the bet amount in and then put more chips on top of your bet afterwards. This is called a "String Bet" and is not allowed. If you want to Raise, you must place your raised amount in the betting area all at once, or verbally announce "Raise" as you are matching a bet amount and then you may put your raised amount in afterwards because you had called it out.

6) You can not take a Bet back if you changed your mind or said it was an accident if you have already put the money over the line into the betting area.

7) Before each round of Flop, Turn, and River, the Dealer will bury the top card on the deck or also known as "Burn" it. Burning the card prevents the possibility that the card is marked and a Player would be able to tell what the next card will be. This is more of a concern when Players

are the ones dealing the cards to each other. This is less of a concern when an official Dealer deals in the game to all the players for every game because usually the Dealer is an impartial party.

8) A rake is taken out of each hand by the Dealer. In lower limit games, the rake is usually 10% of the pot or up to $3, and an additional $1 if they have a Bad Beat Jackpot.

9) Live Casino Poker Rooms which offer "Bad Beat Jackpots" will award money as follows: Between two players, one must have a full house,Ace's full using both of his pocket cards, and be beaten by someone with four-of-a-kind or better, also using both of his pocket cards. The loser of the hand gets 50% the winner gets 25%,and the rest of the table splits the other 25% of the Bad Beat Jackpot.

Poker Etiquette

1) Never act out of turn (ie. Betting or Raising or Folding before players ahead of you have yet to act).

2) Swearing or foul language is not permitted at the table.

3) As a courtesy, you usually will tip the Dealer $1 if you won a small pot. You may tip more depending on the pot size.

4) As a courtesy, you usually will tip the Cocktail Waitress $1 for each drink she serves you.

5) Talking on a cellular phone is not permitted at the table. You may step away from the table to use your phone.
