John Juanda began playing poker in 1996. He is quiet and analytical, very good at assessing his opponents and adjusting to their game. He is not an ego driven player, and is always assessing and readjusting his own game when necessary. Juanda's cool, unflappable exterior is almost a trademark, a barrier against anyone who wants to read into his moves. This objectivity has been one of the cornerstones of his success.

John Juanda lists Daniel Negreanu, Allan Cunningham, Phil Ivey, Randy Holland, and Erik Seidel as his heroes -- not just as poker players but also as role models. He currently lives in California.
